Quality
of Life
Merced
is a quaint community that is home to
many tree shaded parks and private golf
courses, miles of bike paths, and numerous
community recreational activities. Merced
is also home to Lake Yosemite which offers
sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and
fishing.
Merced
is most proud of the sense of community
that is shared by its residents. This
is evidenced by the numerous community
events, fairs and festivals held each
year throughout the Merced community.
|
|
Perhaps it is their agricultural
roots, but Merced has maintained a small
town environment in an urban setting.
Neighborhoods are still the building blocks
of the community. Wide, tree-lined streets
and spacious homes offer a pleasant contrast
to the congested residential areas of
larger cities. Neighbors spend time together
and watch out for each other.
From an educational standpoint, the Merced
area has easy access to many fine institutions
of higher learning. Within a one-hour
radius, over 100,000 students attend colleges
and universities, including Merced College,
the University of California, Merced,
California State University, Stanislaus
and California State University, Fresno.
